Mentoring Australia recovering coaching program will create a clear plan of action while using the participants current strengths to reach their desired goals.
Mentoring Australia recovery coaching is innovative way of mentoring people with psychosocial disability. It combines the principles of recovery- orientated practice with coaching principles with the aim of assisting people to build on their strengths and increase their capacity to control of their lives. Mentoring Australia recovery-oriented practice acknowledges that recovery is not necessarily about a cure but rather assisting people to live well and thrive.
Our recovery coaches and mentors will work collaboratively with participants, acknowledging that each person is an expert in their own life. Coaches and mentors will work with you to develop goals, hopes and aspirations. It is a strength-based approach that is underpinned by strong and respectful relationships. Each person’s journey will be different. Mentoring Australia recovery coaches and mentors also work in partnership with the participant’s clinical mental health services.
Mentoring Australia recovery coaches and mentors are responsible for:
- Our coaches will work to increase recovery skills and personal capacity, including motivation, strengths, resilience, and decision-making.
- Building relationships for a lifelong recovery
- Supporting the person with their recovery planning
- Building personal capacity, including around motivation, strengths, resilience and decision making
- Collaborating with other systems of support to ensure they are all on the right track.
- Supporting engagement and collaboration with all stakeholders
- Documentation and reporting on all interactions, support and outcomes
Mentoring Australia coaches and Mentors will provide weekly reports for the participants and stakeholders. Reports will outline progress towards:
- Recovery goals
- Fund utilisation
- Linkages to services
