Charter of Rights for Children and Young People in Care

In championing the rights and voices of children and young people, Mentoring Australia is fully committed to and endorses the Charter of Rights for Children and Young People in Care.
The Charter incorporates the following rights that children and young people in Care are due, these include:
- The right to be safe and well cared for
- The right to be listened to and have a say in decisions
- The right to be treated with respect
- The right to know about and connect with their culture
- The right to have contact with people who matter to me
- The right to good health, fun and play
- The right to privacy
- The right to a good education
- The right to get the support I need so I’m ready to leave care and feel good about my future
